It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. PS. I Love You

Aww man,
I was a blubbering baby last night!

I watched PS. I Love You last night and let me tell you, it was water works the entire time!

Not because the movie was sad the whole time, but because I just let myself get out of hand with my emotions... it was a touchy subject for me, kind of hit home. But I do recommend you seeing it, if you haven't already.
The story line would be a nice gesture for someone to do, but I'm too lazy to put that much time and preparation into it. So for now I will just continue to just hug & kiss everyone and tell them I love them everyday, like usual.

Congratulations Jo!

First of all let me say, I knew my daughter was going to pass her driver's permit on the first try!

Believe me, I'm not bragging in anyway that she passed because of me. She passed because her father knows EVERY driving law there is to know in California (he's a professional driver and very analytical, really.) and he made sure she paid attention, AND also because she is exactly like him and completely emerged herself into learning it all and learning it fast.

I'm so excited for her, this is a big milestone in her life and we are very proud of her. Yes she wants to hurry up and take her driver's test already but we'll hold off on that for just a little while longer... we want to make sure she has enough time behind the wheel and we want to emphasize the importance's of road safety, teenage driving is not something to be taken lightly.

Although, I would love for her to have her license soon, because I can't wait for her to run my shopping errands for me!

I'm SO Ready For The Weekend!

I can't wait for this weekend to hurry up and get here. It's supposed to be nice and warm with temperatures in the 80's this whole weekend, that means I get to try out my oh so enticing swimming pool that my hubby has been slaving over!

Oh I can't begin to tell you how happy I am about it! It's so beautiful, so sparkly, so inviting, so fresh, so blue...I want to drink it. Seriously.

You're probably saying, "what's the big deal? It's a swimming pool for crying out loud!"

But that's where you are mistaken my friend... It's not just "A" swimming pool, it's my swimming pool. And I have been waiting for it.

I asked my wonderful hubby to get it all pretty for me and he did! He literally lost some sleep over it.

We have been cleaning out our little storage sheds in our backyard, and and doing lot's of overdue yard work that had accumulated over the winter and all of the debris got into our pool and made it unacceptably dirty. So he had to drain our pool, power wash it and do some other technical stuff to it, bottom line is it was a process and he did it all without any complaints and it looks awesome. Thanks babe you're the best!

Lazy Blue Dayz

I love when my spoiled little brat is being lovable & lazy with me.

We were laying down being lazy yesterday when I got home from work (notice the unmade bed!)
and she fell asleep.

I love when she sleeps with her legs stretched out.

Uh Oh... She woke up.

She seen it was just mommy bugging her, she's going back to sleep now.

Hi.

Hey there!

Sheez, I feel like I haven't been here in a while. I was so busy yesterday for it being a Monday, I didn't get settled at work till it was almost time to go home, and when I did find the time to navigate through the blog world I was only reading up on all of my daily reads and didn't have any time left to post my own... so forgive me.

I'm a little sleepy this morning, it just seems like I can't catch up on my sleep, hubby says there is no such thing as "catching up on sleep" ... well that sucks if it's true.

I was so tired yesterday but I couldn't fall asleep... so I was watching Jon & Kate plus 8 all night till I fell asleep. BIG MISTAKE! I dreamt of them all night, I was babysitting and it was sooooo loud in my dream, UGH I think that's why I didn't get enough sleep, or it could be from my bratty dog who felt the urge to get up all night and walk on top of my legs until she found a comfy spot or pushed me with her nose until I lifted the blankets every hour to let her back under the covers.

Don't mind me just being cranky this morning.

Joke of the Day

I read this wonderful blog called http://lulu-memoirs.blogspot.com/ and this was posted there it is hilarious!

How to Tell Your Friend That His Cat is Dead
Priceless tips from Scribd:
Let me start by saying, I have pets, love my pets, and wouldn't ever do anything to hurt them. With that said, my friend was watching a mutual friend's cat while he was on vacation. Before he left, he warned that the cat was old (21 years old), and not doing so hot. He suspected that he was ready to die. Sure enough, the cat died on the last day of vacation. My friend, the sitter, asked me how he should tell him.

I gave him these options to break the news:

1) "I've got good news, and I've got bad news. Bad news is, your cat's dead. The good news is, I saved a lot on my car insurance."

2) "Hey, you're out of milk, the chips are stale, your cat is dead, and the light bulb in the bathroom needs to be changed."

3) (When they walk into the apartment) *sniff* *sniff* "You smell dead cat?"

4) Leave a suicide note next to the cat with a finished bag of catnip mentioning how boring the sitter was.

5) "Are you still interested in those taxidermy classes?"

6) Get rid of the cat, draw a chalk out line, put up police tape all over the place, and act stupid

7) "Will everyone with a live cat please step forward.....not so fast buddy."

8) "You have a couple of messages: your mom called, she wants you to call her back; your landlord said the rent is late; your cat said 'bye'.

9) (When he picks him up from the airport)...
Sitter: Let's play a game....dead or human?
Owner: Huh? Ok.
Sitter: You?
Owner: Human.
Sitter: Me ?
Owner: Human
Sitter: Your cat?
Owner: Huh ?!?!?

10) Owner: Thanks for watching the place. Where are my keys?
Sitter: Oh, they're under your dead cat.

Why did the Turtle cross the road? ...
I sure the heck don't know but just a little while ago when I picked up The Girls from school, there was a huge Turtle crossing the street!
Good thing this guy slammed on his brakes, got out of his car and stopped traffic on the next lane to rescue the poor guy or there would have been some turtle soup cooking tonight.
Yuck who eats Turtle soup? Honestly.
Oh well...I've just never seen a Turtle trying to cross a busy street before, I know it's common in some parts of the Country, just not near my house.

Playing Hookey.

A couple of weeks ago me & the best Hubby in the whole wide world (**mine**) had a wonderful idea! Play Hookey!

Well technically we didn't just ditch, we asked for the day off.

The day started by shipping the kids off to school, came home crawled back in bed and fall into the best sleep ever. Woke up a couple hours later, got dress, and we were off (or as Himbo would say "off like a prom dress").

It started off with some French Toast at Denny's... (yummy)
While enjoying our lovely breakfast we decided to plan our "mission" for the rest of our day...

The mission was: Catch a movie.

We went to see Leatherheads, I liked it. It was cute, funny, it had a few one-line punches... very "old Hollywood" feel to it, Although I must say Renee Zellweger looked really old in this movie.

After the movie let out we walked around and shopped a little, we picked up cookies from Moondoggies for Blue & Dingy. The Girls were almost out of school so we arrange for Mrs. B to pick them up for us.

Of course since we now have plenty of time to burn we hit The Euro Station for a Strawberry-Banana Crepe and Belgian Fries. I will have to say the Crepe's are delicious but the fries are crap! This was the second time we tried them and both times tasted old and burnt. yucky. But who cares when you have yummy strawberry's and bananas with Nutella and whipped cream right?

Anywho, after eating ourselves silly all day and just running around we made it back home just in time to hear The Girls bitch us out about ditching them blah blah blah... then we retreated to our wonderful haven (our cushy bed) and turned on our TV and watched more movies, while our little slave children rubbed our backs! hehehe ... mission. accomplished.

LOVE THE BEACH!!!

So yesterday afternoon when we woke up out of our sun-poisoning induced coma we were starving! We hit our 2nd favorite joint for Pozole (1st is our house of course) and we grubbed! When we got into the car Hubby said "What are we going to do today?"
Of Course my only suggestion on a hot day would be, "Let's go to the beach!" and to my amazement Hubby said "Ok that sounds good!"
Seriously, unless my little Pyro Hubby gets to lite to Bon-Fire during our Margo/Tapz Family Beach Weekends he doesn't really care for the beach, so you can understand why I had to jump out of a moving car, run into the house to grab towels our beach clothes and paraphernalia (chairs, mats, ice chest, water, sodas) in less than 5 minutes flat so he wouldn't change his mind! We picked up Himbo and headed west!

So we got a wonderful parking right in front..."Do you see how meant to be it was to be there!?" and the minute I set up our crap I made a break for the water.

OMGosh...It. Was. Cold. But oh so wonderful! I did a lot of sitting out in the sun this time, I was trying to tan over my farmers tan I got from the yard sale... It was nice, I was just a little disappointed that the beach was kind of dirty looking and really packed...Oh and don't forget the mother's who let their children run around naked. Come on people that's so NOT cute, I don't feel like being subjected to seeing your kids little piece of skin flapping around in the wind! Who does that? ...Honestly! Buy some swimming trunks!

Oh well other than that it was great to be at my sanctuary, so peaceful.

Himbo ditched us for a little while to go get his shopping fix at Quiksilver...he's a Quiksilver whore. 2 hours & $200 later he came back with a cute T-Shirt and a nice beach towel! Just kidding it was only $100 & change! We loaded up and headed home, relaxed and ready for showers.

I am now 3 shades darker than I was on Friday! My compact doesn't even match, Oh but how I love having a little bit of a sunburn glow to my face...

Yard Sale

We didn't get home and get to sleep Friday night (or shall I say Saturday) till 4:30am in the morning...Hubby was up at 6:30am getting everything together for the Yard Sale, he let me sleep in till 8:30am...

It wasn't so bad. We were tired, it was hot, but we hung in there! We seriously gave away something free to everyone who bought something, I think because it was so hot we didn't feel like standing in the sun giving prices, we would just say,
" Oh don't worry, just go ahead and take it"

We were just posted up in our lawn chairs in the shade, we had some good reggae playing, lot's of water, Blue was laying under her daddy's chair all day, and the girls and my mom keeping us company (sometimes) ... Good Times...

Movie Must See's

Me & Hubby took the day off on Friday and hung out with The Girls all day. (it was their last day off from Spring Break)

Later that night we ditched the girls and rented a few movies, picked up a pizza & junk food and headed on over to Himbo's house.

OK! must see movies:
I loved this movie! It was great, it's a bunch of short stories about relationships & love in the city of Paris... Loved it. I don't know if I could choose one story in this movie that I liked the most, they were all fan-tab-ulous!

This movie was funny, lot's of dialogue...fast talking, but funny. The point of views of love and relationships in this movie are awesome! Mars Callaghan is a wonderful director and his dialogue in the movie is my favorite. It reminded me of something my hubby would say...aww.

Random Shopping is Fun!

I talk about this store so much...I swear I do not work here or have any association with this company what-so-ever. I just really like the store. It's just so cute & convenient, I just shop here ALOT.

Yesterday I was taking "Chris" (she spent the night) and The Girls shopping there because Chris wanted to know where to get the Naan bread for her new "pizza" fix. On the way to the store we stopped to pick up Reina Bee. (she needed to get some buttermilk)

*Little background on RB*...
(high energy, various accents and voice impersonations...attention whore)
She's fun & crazy! So basically the minute we walk in the door there is this employee on a ladder and her butt is sticking out while she's stocking the shelves and RB makes a really loud fart noise and says "Bless You"
the employee just looked at us and laughed like
"did she just do that? really?" ... Get the picture now?

So we start making our way through the aisles. RB starts adding her groceries in the cart and I start getting a few things too. The entire time we are in the store we are getting stared at, walked away from and laugh with or "at" however you look at it really!

By the time we go to check out we had a few items in the cart, which none of us seemed to really pay attention too.

When RB was checking out (it's self check out) She had a little trouble with the machine so this employee guy (who we all agreed, wanted himself a little Reina Bee) came to her rescue...when he started scanning her items we all noticed what was in her cart, it went a little something like this:

Buttermilk
Tortilla Chips (no salsa)
Banana Baby Food (she doesn't have children)
Vanilla Vodka
Carrot Juice
Hummus
Bow Tie Pasta Noodles (no sauce)
Cilantro
Pita Bread.

Reina then announced to everyone in the check out lanes that she does not in fact smoke pot, she just didn't realize all the random things she was picking! We were crackin' up! I love random shopping.

*Side Note: Reina Bee, who buys baby food & vodka? Honestly!*

My Special Girl, "Chris"

So yesterday when I left work, and set out on my horrible seven minute drive home (jealous?)

"Chris" (my Hubby's God-Daughter) called me and said she was coming over because she was passing by our house on her way home and realized she was very hungry. (yes people associate me & my house with food, because where Bon Don is... there is yummy food & Ill feed you!)

Chris: Hi, I wanted to see what you were doing because I want to stop by. I have a migraine and I think it's because I'm hungry. I can go home and eat 3-day old soup or I can come by your house and eat with you guys.
Me: Yeah, come over and on your way pick up a cheese pizza
Chris: Well I just paid all of my bills and it left me broke, that's why I'm coming over to YOUR house!
Me: Ok then I'll see you in a minute... HA! not really, I said
"Whatever you broke a$$ biznach, come over then...and bring me a Dr. Pepper, I know you have at least $2.00!!"
Chris: OK I'm on my way!

So when Chris came over she was fully prepared with a big Dr. Pepper for me and the movie Juno. (I've been wanting to see this movie from day one, I just never got around to it) last night I didn't feel like getting fancy so I made Hubby's favorite "Soggy Chicken" (Chicken & Rice with Cream of Chicken Sauce)
Chris kept me company in the kitchen and started putting in her two cents while I was cooking and it went a little something like this:

Chris: Mmmm, that smells good, how do you make that?
Me: I started steaming the rice already and now I'm just cooking the chicken with some seasonings, and when the chicken is done I add the can of cream of chicken with a little milk and we are done!
Chris: Mmmm, that sounds good.
Chris: I love chicken...Ooo someone should try and cook it with like tomatoes or tomato sauce! That would probably taste good.
Me: ... *staring at her* ... Oh you mean like, Chicken Marinara or Chicken Parmesan? Yes Chris I agree, someone should try and make a recipe like that!
Chris: *laughing* Oh yeah, I was wondering why that sounded familiar...

While we were waiting for dinner to cook I decided to make my Garlic Tandoori Naan Bread that I got from Fresh & Easy... I toasted it a little in my toaster oven then added some Marinara Sauce (also from Fresh & Easy) and topped it with Monterey Jack Cheese, Parsley Flakes and Salt & Pepper. Threw it back in the toaster oven till the cheese melted and served it for me & Chris, she was hesitant because she had never had Naan Bread and thought that the packaging looked weird.

Me: Dude! Cut it out, I wouldn't make you eat something I wouldn't eat...and besides when have I ever steered you wrong?
Chris: ...Ok, it looks good... almost like a little pizza!
Me: Duh, that's why I made it so we could have our pizza fix...just try it
Chris: *eating* Mmmmm THIS IS GOOOOD!!!
Me: I know.
Chris: *after eating two more* Man that was good! And look we saved so much money eating here then buying pizza!!
Me: ... *starring*
Me: No Chris... "YOU" saved so much money eating here, I still had to buy this food!
Chris: *laughing* you know what I mean!
Me: Shut up and go put on our movie now.

Weekend Rejuvenation

You know, the best rejuvenation regime is to veg-out!

Just stay in your p.j's all weekend and do absolutely NOTHING, just spoil yourself, eat what you want, try out a new recipe, catch up on all your favorite movies or the ones you haven't seen yet... We definitely had one of those weekends and it was great!

It started off with everyone sleeping in then, going out for breakfast, renting about 6 movies and buying 2 movies on Blue Ray (LOVE LOVE LOVE the clarity) plus a game for Hubby. Oh and we completely finished watching the final season of Alias this weekend too. The girls were in that lazy mood with us too, they were trying to fit into every little open space on our bed to watch TV with us, Blue (my hubby's spoiled Chihuahua) was a little jealous and cranky that everyone was laying by her Daddy but she got over it and let us enjoy our movies.

For dinner I made tacos (I think it was from all that talk about them earlier this week) and with content bellies we finished watching our movies. A little while later we needed something sweet, so we made a quick run to Wendy's for some yummy chocolate Frosty's! mmmmm.

I love weekends like this.

Opening Day & Friday Night Big Bang

OPENING DAY! It was FUN!

Me, Hubby, my bro and Jo (daughter) headed out to the game...and we had a blast. As we were walking through the rows of tailgaters we ran into a couple of my hubby's buddies having a little tail-gate party, so what else is there to do but to join right in right? Just grab a beer and listen to these guys crack jokes at each other expense and give the "baseball card pusher" a hard time. (some random man was trying to sell baseball cards in the parking lot)

Unfortunately, the Angels didn't win. *sad*

...but who cares!? Not me, not when there's Corona's to drink, Fireworks to watch and The Budweiser Clydesdale's to see! These horses were so beautiful!

The Angels didn't do so hot, but in the 9th inning they gave us a little action and made a few runs, so it wasn't a total bust!

PLUS we stayed for "Friday Night Big Bang" it was Motown soundtrack that night, so not only did we get to see beautiful fireworks, we even got to sing along! I heart the Angels...go Halos

Hidden Treasures?

So the other day my Hubby and I were talking about the T.V. show $40 a Day (with Rachel Ray)

Basically she's a tourist in search of great food. The catch? She's only got $40 a day! She asks locals where to find the best places to eat, she dines everywhere, from crab shacks to brew pubs to five-star restaurants all over the world.

That made us wonder out loud, "Where the heck would WE send people?" Don't get me wrong I like all sorts of restaurants and mom & pop food shops all over Orange County, but to say "OMG! You have to try this place, blah blah blah" that's rare...

Then just yesterday "The Lunch Crew" (the funniest friends ever) we were talking about Reina Bee's hometown... "Sac-Town" and she was saying they have this yummy taco chain called Jimboy's and she had me salivating!

That all got me thinking what hidden treasures do I know of?

Ok well since we are on the subject of tacos, then I think the one place I would recommend for some yummy tacos would be Tito's Taco's (they serve Tacos Al Vapor) it's a little hole in the wall in the middle of the ghetto (Santa Ana) on Harbor Blvd. right next to a bar and a motel... seriously ghetto! I wouldn't have the heart to send Rachel Ray there alone on one of her trips to Orange County, but the tacos are yummy!

Where are all the hidden treasures at? Tell me where yours are please...I WILL SO check them out if I ever wonder through your neck of the woods, I promise!

Longing for the Beach

So as many of you already know I am a beach junkie!

Anyway, I was just shopping on online for our beach supplies (tents, chairs etc.) because it's starting to warm up and the Hubby and I are all set to start planning our summer weekends.

Last year I actually took the kids to every beach in Orange County AND Long Beach! It was a mission, we decided we liked our favorite beaches the best, Balboa (that's mine) & Newport.

When my God-son "D" visited during the summer we went to the beach everyday when I got off of work. It was AWESOME! We totally had a routine, Drive up. Unload ourselves, Towels, Chairs and Sand Toys. Pick a spot to put our towels down, then run straight into the water.

During the week I prefer Newport Beach, because the waves are much smaller and the kids have access to all the food shops. We would play in the water the whole time, when it was almost time for the Hubby to get home we would head back home in time to have dinner together. I was in heaven.

Now summer weekends are another story! Summer weekends are reserved for the annual "Margo-Taps Family Bon-Fires" at Balboa!

We all load up nice & early in the morning and go save us a pit, we set up our camp ground for the day and relax. Nothing but clear sky's, warm sun, sand, cool water, good BBQ and fun, and come night time we start our fire and let the kids go at it with the yummy chocolate, marshmallows, gram crackers and make their S'mores...

Did I mention I love the beach?
