Quick Money Question For You

The other day I was out running some errands,
as I was getting out of the car I noticed a dollar bill on the floor!

A DOLLAR BILL!!

I was so shocked, seriously!
I'm sure you're thinking, "really? a dollar and she was shocked"
but you have to realize I've never found money before.

Is that odd?

I mean sure... I've been around people who find money all the time,
Hubby finds money, my Momma finds money ALL the time...
but I never do.

Wait!!! I find coins... does that count?

Hubby said I never find money because
I never look "around" or down at the floor.

It's true I don't.

I remember once when I was a tiny little Bon Don, I seen this man drop his wallet at the Supermarket. I picked it up (fully loaded with cash by the way) and followed him saying "Excuse me Sir" about 5 times before he turned around, I handed him his wallet and said "You dropped this back there" he snatched it from my hand, shoved it in his pocket and walked away.

No "Thank You" or "Wow kid good job!"
BASTARD!
Anyway that is the extent of my money finding days.

So as I was excitedly tell Hubby about my fabulous news and how I was a dollar richer, I asked him what was the most money he's ever found?
He said a Fifty Dollar Bill!
$50!
I would love to find a fifty dollar bill,
but I will be happy with my dollar fortune!

So my question for you is...
What was the most money you've ever found?

... NOT STOLEN people!!
But found!

i randomly found a little wad of cash in high school... a whole $16!!!

back then having an extra $16 made me feel like a high roller!!! ;o)

Pffft, the only money I find is in the washing machine or the dryer, and it's usually mine.

Now if you want to talk about LOSING money, I'm the Master at that. I've lost my entire wallet at Piggly Wiggly right after payday with over $300 in it when I was 18. The hobo who sits outside the grocery store had nice new white pants on and brand name beer the next day. Grrr!

Bon Don said...

C.J: I would have too! I felt like that with my little dollar!

Denise: LOL... That was the funniest little sad story ever!
"nice new white pants on and brand name beer"

I find money all the time... in my old purses. still, it makes me happy.

like Denise, I lost $300 once. I was trying clothes on at the mall and I forgot I had a wad of cash in my pants pocket. I guess it fell out in one of the dressing rooms. I admit it. I cried.

Well that last sentence forbids pretty much any story I could've told here.

I found $200 at the zoo when i was little and handed it in to the office! Someone claimed it but i thinkk they bought me an ice cream lol

$760.00
I found it in a little baggie (very a la drug dealer) on the floor while in line to pay my utility bill years ago. I handed it in & they took my name & I forgot about it. When it wasn't claimed in 3 months they called me and I picked it up!
Was sweeeeet!!!

most money i've ever "found" at one time was a $100 bill in a parking lot...nobody was around..it was like wedged by the curb...i just happened to look down....and BAM..."MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MOOONEY..MOOOOOONEY.."

i find money quite frequently though...MY MONEY..i think i subconsciously hide money for myself lol...when i go through old purses or clothes, i find anywhere from $10-$40...you know i even once found a reimbursement check from my job for like $150 that i forgot to cash...they were kind enough to reissue it lol...

but congrats on the money find!

**damn it's hard to have that sound sincere after my rant**

but you know i mean it!! LOL

Bon Don said...

La Pixie: I need to start stashing money in purses! :( sorry about the 300 I would have cried too.

Tish tash: I wouldn't except anything less from you! :)

Stargazer: Oh now I will!! $60 on a gift card!? Now that's a come up!

RTB: Oh I wanna pinch your cheeks for that! so sweet

Kim: Okay that is "almost" as good as finding a dollar! (wow, I can't believe they were so honest about giving it to you 3 months later!... see how I need to move to Canada!)

Jillz: lol...I know you meant it! Luv ya doll!

Aline said...

$50...that's crazy! I have found a dollar here and there, but the most I have ever found was a washed 20 in the pocket of my jeans!

Aline said...

Oh and don't even start me with losing...Hub lost his license, check card, a few hundred in chips, and AT LEAST 100 in cash in the river when we were in Laughlin. I was soooooo mad. When we had stopped on the way there to pick up ice, I literally BEGGED him to give me the contents of his pockets because I knew he would go in the water, but NOOOOOOO, he had to be a smarty pants and say that he would remember to remove them from his trunks prior to drunk diving off the boat.

I've found a lot of money lying around the flood. In the club once in Miami I found a $100. I bought myself some nice things haha.

Back in college, my bf and I were walking to get some dinner, and I saw a dollar bill on the flood. I picked it up and these guys we knew started yelling and laughing out the window not to pick it up...because they put poop in it! How gross!!! I didnt hear them in time...I touched it :( After that incident...I've been careful when picking up money I find..I smell it first!

Katrina said...

In the first comment I spelled floor wrong...I wrote flood.

Katrina said...

I spelled it wrong more than once...

occasionally i'll find a five or ten i forgot about in my "hiding spot" in my purse (i.e. the place i hide money from myself when I'm out drinking) or something in pants, but i cant ever say ive found any on the street.

everytime i was out walking with my former co-worker on the way to lunch or the coffee shop she would find money!! without fail. i began to suspect she stopped on her way in to work and planted it in different places to 'find' again later when we were out and about. i kept my eyes peeled but i NEVER would see it until she pointed it out; 'look. there. right there! don't you see it?'
and only then would i see it.
i guess i was money blind.
maybe you're money blind too.
:-)

I haven't had much luck picking up stray notes or coins unfortunately. I think the most I found was R5 and with $1 roughly equalling 10 rand, the most I found was about $0.50c.!!

I think the most I ever found was a $10. My mom found a $20 at the Mall of America when I was w/ her once though. I told her that meant she had to buy us lunch. :) Haha.

hahahhaha!!! i found a $10 dollar bill on the floor in a bar once and was GIDDY BEYOND BELIEF! and once recently i found $50 i had hidden from myself. that is lame, i know!!!

amo (amanda) said...

the most i found was 10 dollars...near a bus stop... near a seedy motel. might've been pro-ho money... or just leftover from some tourists... who knows.... i bought lunch at McDonalds two days in a row! ;) hahahahhahaha

Lana@The Kids Did WHAT?! said...

Nothing. Nada. Zilch. But when I was with my dad once he found a $20 and gave me half. Does that count?

And it's Lana as in L-ana...minus the hyphen of course. Although, I think I like the dramatic pause with the hyphen. "Hi! I'm L---ana". Yup. works for me... BUT, if I stick the hyphen in it, it loses all meaning when I tell people to read my name backwards.... Hmmm. Such a dilemma.

Hey I wouldn't mind finding a dollar! Heck I always lose at Casinos, I'll take whatever luck I can get! :)

I was with my husband when he found a $100 bill in a ritzy part of Portland. You would have thought we struck oil to see our reaction! He treated me to a gourmet dinner and we proceeded to tell every person we know the story. And for the record, I'd have walked right past it if he hadn't spotted it!

When I was back home, for mother's day, I was broke and after church, walking home, i found 10 thousand Colombian pesos. Back then that was like 100 dollars or so. I took mom, aunt and gma to eat and boought them things.

Then 9 years ago, I got paid and cashed the check. The person in the cash office gave me 1000 dollars EXTRA. She never noticed. I was so happy until two days later i started feeling lousy about it and I went and returned the money.

I felt much better. A total wuss but the money wasnt mine, so not use in keeping it.

I remember my mom found $100 in the mall. The funny thing was that my brother was standing right on it and didn't even notice.

I was at Dodger stadium..yes Dodger stadium and had to use the restroom so when I entered the stall I noticed that the lady before me had dropped about $7. I did not pick up it due to the fact that Dodger stadium bathrooms are digusting! Anyway, after I got out a little girl went in and after she got out and walked away I looked in the stall to see if she had picked it up and to my NOT surprise, this kid stole it! Mind you, she could've thought it was mine since I was in there before but that didn't stop little miss sticky fingers! By the way, I was still in the bathroom when she got out and took off. She didn't even wash her hands! Ewww...who does that?

No one is going to believe me. $1,000. In Shreveport. Ended up going to the cracker jack cop station with it. They laughed at me and stared at my breasts. No one claimed it by the end of the weekend and so it was mine after that.

Weirdest thing that ever happened to me. Being in Shreveport I mean, not the found cash. Wicked crazy town. All voodooish and freaky.

Put the cash in a CD and it is worth sooooooooooooo much more now. I told myself I'd spend it something really cool one day. Well, I recently saw an ad for the Honda Element "Dog Car"....sweeeet!

*Megan* said...

I found $2 just the other day...Monday I belive, outside my house! :)

Desert Rat said...

Some times I find a little here and there but I'm one of those who turns it in or says "did anyone drop this" because I believe in Karma.
however losing money...well..I remember this one time about 14 years ago on Stuart, I was walking back from my daily grocery shopping and lost $40 right around Ponchos, I went back to find it, it was gone...I cried for days after, it was sad. Some whoreish drug addict probably found it!

spitandvinegar said...

I found three bucks at a skate park the other day and I'm pretty sure I knew who dropped it, but he looked like a little bastard that didn't need any dinner, so I kept it. Also, you are funny.
